The Leaping Bunny Program, managed by the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC), certifies that brands and their ingredient suppliers do not conduct or commission animal testing at any stage of product development. Companies must recommit annually and are subject to independent audits. The program covers both finished products and raw ingredients throughout the supply chain.

The Other Side

Leaping Bunny is widely considered the gold standard for cruelty-free certification, with stricter requirements than most self-declared cruelty-free claims. Some critics note the certification cost can be a barrier for smaller brands. Others point out that the program doesn't address other ethical concerns like environmental impact or worker conditions — it is specifically and exclusively about animal testing.
