Findings

Calendula extract showed promise for acute wounds—animal studies and one human trial found faster inflammation resolution and more healing tissue. But results were mixed for chronic wounds, burns, and radiation damage, with some clinical trials showing no benefit over standard treatments.

Methodology

Researchers reviewed 14 published studies (7 in animals, 7 in humans) testing calendula extract as a standalone treatment for wound healing, searching major medical databases through April 2018.
