Researchers created a wound dressing layered with chamomile extract and silver sulfadiazine that showed strong antibacterial effects against common bacteria and helped wounds close faster in animal studies. The dressing stayed intact under stress, broke down naturally in the body, and didn't harm skin cells. In vivo results showed it promoted skin regrowth and collagen production—basically, it helped damaged tissue rebuild itself.
Scientists engineered a two-part wound dressing: a hydrogel core containing chamomile extract and silver sulfadiazine, topped with a nanofiber layer. They tested its durability, safety on cells, antibacterial strength, and ability to heal full-thickness wounds in animals.
