Findings

When pomegranate extract was packaged into tiny lipid particles and applied to mouse skin with tumors, it showed statistically significant anticancer effects compared to untreated controls. The nanoparticle formulation penetrated skin more effectively than regular pomegranate extract alone.

Methodology

Researchers created a pomegranate extract formula using solid lipid nanoparticles (essentially tiny fat-based delivery vehicles) mixed into a gel. They tested it on mice with solid tumors to measure anticancer activity and skin penetration.
